Grape Varietals
Zweigelt
Zweigelt Zweigelt is named for the Austrian plant-breeder Prof. Zweigelt, who created this successful cross of Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent (a Pinot Noir like Austrian grape). It is Austria’s most planted red grape variety. Zweigelt produces a soft, jammy, full-bodied cherry fruited wine with a delicate spice and an attractive pepper tingle. Zweigelt characteristics are cherry notes, velvety body, and soft tannins. It ranges from a light table wine with a pronounced fruity bouquet to be enjoyed in its youth to powerful wines built for aging.
