Croatia: Korčula Wine Route

The island of Korčula is famous as the birthplace of world traveler Marco Polo and as the home of the indigenous grape varietal Pošip, probably Croatia's most distinguished white grape. Korčula is also a beautiful island in its own right and definitely worth a visit. Once you are here you can simply hop by ferry to the neighboring island Hvar (Otok Hvar) and onto the peninsula Pelješac with Croatia's prestige vineyard Dingač.
The information about the wine route on Korčula is minimal, just a blurry map with the names of two dozen wine estates, no address and no phone numbers. But... the island is small and readily explored if you have a little enthusiasm and passion for wine. Read as additional pointers some travel reports in our very own
Blue Danube Wine blog.
