The Goldberg Blaufrankisch is the signature wine of the J.Heinrich estate. It is made from vines the grandfather planted more than 50 years ago in the best vineyard location in Deutschkreutz, the Goldberg.
Jon Bonné writes in the San Francisco Chronicle about the 2008 vintage of this wine:
"Having made wine for 300 years, the Heinrich family is well established in Burgenland, on the country's eastern border. This stylish bottle from their top vineyard, Goldberg, is packed with violets, pine cone and pepper - and just a hint of oak to smooth the dark fruit and licorice edge. For a more perfumed, juicy take, Heinrich's basic Blaufrankisch ($14) is a terrific deal."
