Attila Gere - Cabernet Sauvignon - 2008

This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from vineyards in Csillagvölgy within the DHC - Villány. It was aged in a combination of 80% new and 20% used Hungarian and French barrels for 16 months. We don’t often dabble in international varietals but we have been enjoying the Bordeaux based wines from Gere for some time now and jumped at the opportunity to import them. Even though this is Gere’s basic Cabernet it is really flashy stuff. Absolutely classic with typical aromas of cassis, currant and espresso, but what makes the wine exciting is the “other”, that elusive gamey, almost musky quality that holds your attention. It will continue to improve for a minimum of 5 to 8 years.
