Zierer - Zierfandler-Rotgipfler - 2003

Some of our favorite Austrian grape varietals are the Zierfandler and the Rotgipfler. They are very rare and only grown in the Thermenregion a few miles south of Austria's capital Vienna. Traditionally both are made into a blend to enhance the complexity of flavors. These varietals do age well, so this wine from 2003 is still a baby!

Harald Zierer is known to be one of the leading wine makers in the town of Gumpolskirchen. This town is so much at the center of wine culture in this region that her wines were always known simply as "Gumpolskirchner". This wines comes from the Sonnenberg, one of the best vineyards here. A real treat!
