The Slovenian name Plemenito Belo translates to 'noble white' and 'noble' this wine is indeed. It is a wonderful rich blend of 4 varietals: Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and the two native varietals, Yellow Muskat and Malvasia. The last two look exotic but are very common in coastal Slovenia. They add an elegant fragrance and aromatic flavors to the mix.
The Plemenito Belo becomes rounder and richer with bottle age and as it matures turns into a fairly full bodied 'winter white'. It will pair nicely with more substantial food including grilled fish and sauteed pork or veal cutlets with sauerkraut or mushrooms. This is the wine of choice in many restaurants and hotels at the Slovenian Adriatic coast. |
