Our first 2009 wine just in: A light, refreshing wine, with pleasant aromas of spring. A native Hungarian variety, Cserszegi Füszeres exhibits a fragrance similar to that of the Muscat grape and the gentle spiciness of a Gewürztraminer.
This unpronounceable grape has a lovely grapey, floral/aromatic nose and a dry palate that shows a slightly spicy edge. Fresh, crisp, acidic, and very tasty...
Pairs well with salads, light seafood, and spicy Asian cuisine.
"Are you a proud member of the protester class, ready to carry picket signs to oppose genetic engineering of foodstuffs? Experience an illicit thrill by trying the Cserszegi Fuszeres, which was bioengineered the old-fashioned way: It's the subject of repeating crossings in the vineyard between grape varieties that included, at some stage, both Muscat and Gewurztraminer. Not surprisingly, it's extremely floral, with nice apple fruit, some mineral and an earthy, smoky character that increases with air."
