Rumeni Muskat is a Slovenian wine specialty, and nobody makes a finer one than Črnko in the Maribor region. Fragrant aromas in the nose and lovely tropical fruit on the palate, this wine is extremely popular with wine lovers in the U.S. Too bad, we only receive a couple of cases of it each year which sell out fast.
This Yellow Muskat (or Gelber Muskateller as it is called in Austria across the border)is a perennial Gold Medal winner at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. So year after year the acting American Ambassador makes the short drive from Slovenia's capital Ljubljana to personally present the award to Črnko. In tow he has the Slovenian TV to film the event. These friendly diplomatic missions have led to friendships of the wine maker with two successive U.S. ambassadors. Come harvest time you can find the ambassador side-by-side with the Črnko family picking the ripe fruit which he'll find next year in the new vintage of Rumeni Muskat.
