Proprietor: Davor Zdjelarević Website: Zdjelarević Winery Country Location: Croatia Davor Zdjelarević of Brodski Sutpnik is one of the first dedicated Croatian and Slavonian private winemakers. Although just like other Slavonians he earned his first serious wines from Grasevina. His wines are full bodied, clean, with fine acidity and at times resembling a standard Chablis in style. In addition to Grasevina Sv. Klara and Chardonnay Reserve (which are being improved in barriques) Zdjelarevic, who obtains his grapes from over 20 hectares of his own vineyards, adding annually. The Zdjelarević winery is located in the Brodski Stupnik region of Slavonia, located in North East Croatia. The micro climate of this wine is quite a temperate continental one, with mild winters and warm to hot summers that are semi arid. This produces structurally rich grapes which translate in the wines. The regions vineyards stretch about 80kilometers along the valley of the Sava River in the south, surrounded by gentle hills up the north side of the vineyards. Most of the vineyards are located on the southern slopes facing the Sava River. The solid contains remnants of Pannon sea clay material that date back thousands of year. The grapes are produced without mineral fertilizers, and maintain sustainable practices in general. Hand harvesting is the norm. |
