Island Hvar is Europe's sunniest island and the foundations of viticulture were established as far back as the 5th century BC by the ancient Greeks. Pollution is extremely low along the Adriatic coast of Croatia, the quality of air and water is of the highest in Europe. The vineyards of the Plenković Winery are situated on steep, south facing slopes of the island. Grapes are picked manually, yields are low and there are absolutely no chemicals used for spraying.
