Hungary: Villány-Siklós Wine Route

Hungary: Villány-Siklós Wine Route The Villány-Siklós wine route claims to be the first one established in Hungary in 1994. Located in the southern most part of the country next to the border to Continental Croatia, it runs through one of Hungary's premier wine regions where some of the best Hungarian red wine is being produced today. Here you can see famous vineyards like Kopar and Jammertal in their full glory. Visit some of Hungary's top wine makers: Bock, Gere, and Tiffan and taste their wines. The first two also operate bed-and-breakfast hostels in the center of Villány.
Once you are here, don't miss to visit the rather unique open-air sculpture park in Nagyharsany. The sculpture park contains, amongst others, works carved from the limestone of the former quarry in which it stands. And you want to stroll through the old streets of the nearby city of Pécs with its many museums and galleries.
