Our Notes: Vylyan Pinot Noir is consistently classic vintage to vintage; Lithe and mineral, but with fruitiness, warmth, and a full supple texture tempered by a characteristic masculine edge. With each vintage the vines roots grow deeper the depth and complexity of the wines increases. Hand harvested from the densely planted clay and limestone sites of Gombas (East facing) and Varerdo (West facing). The grapes were foot trodden and fermented totally dry with native yeast. Maturation took place in light and middle toasted Hungarian oak barrels of 225 litres - 1/3 new, 1/3 1 year old, 1/3 2 years old and bottle with little filtration. In good vintages like 2008 something special begins to show. Both polished and rustic the 2008 Vylyan Pinot Noir shows pedigree that belies its price. Consume at 65°F with spring lamb, duck, mushrooms or pungent cheeses. Best from 2011 through 2025.
