Our Notes: Only 3 bottles left! 2011 may be the best vintage in recent Villány memory. A sunny spring allowed proper fruit set, followed by a cool rainy July. Warm, dry conditions persisted from early August through harvest. Produced at Gere this Kékfrankos (AKA Blaufränkisch) based rosé is part of the Weninger & Gere collaboration Attila shares with his friend and fellow winemaker Franz Weninger. Grapes were sorted, de-stemmed, crushed and left on their skins at cool temperatures by variety until desired color was achieved, then blended prior to fermentation. Made in a timeless, dry, low alcohol, Mediterranean style, this exactly pink rosé offers equal parts tangy fruit and peppery spice. It does not require food but would be lovely with a picnic of cold fried chicken and potato salad.
