Our Notes: Only 3 bottles left!
Villány is often referred to as the “Bordeaux of Hungary.” It is one of the warmest regions in the country and Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon are as common as traditional varieties like Portugieser, Kékfrankos and Kadarka. As warm as it is, Villány is comparably cool to other Cabernet famous sites like Napa or even Bordeaux. In the coolest less exposed sites, even Pinot Noir can be grown with equal success. Consistently praised as Hungary’s finest producer of Pinot Noir, 2009 is one of Vylyan’s finest vintages yet. Classically styled it is lithe and mineral, but fruitful, warm, supple in texture, and with just enough of its characteristic masculine edge. Consume at cellar temperature with spring lamb, duck, mushrooms or pungent cheeses.
