Our Notes: Made from a selection of younger plantings approximately 20 years in age, it isn’t ripe enough for the new world nor to be confused with Burgundy, but someplace in between. 2011 was dry leading up to harvest and Juris was looking for acidity rather than dealing with botrytis and rain. After a healthy native fermentation lively aromatics of wild strawberry suggest a much bigger wine than what’s actually in the bottle. The color is also darker than you might expect from the old world, but isn’t the result of long cold soaks or heavy-handed extraction but instead a reflection of the Austrian terroir. Gravelly and sandy soils dominate lending a sweet earthiness. Wherever a slight carmelization or sweet nutiness wishes to be highlighted or a savory element balanced, this goes where other Pinot Noirs cannot.

86 Points Wine Enthusiast Magazine: A trim, redcurrant fruited light red that is very refreshing; this might even take to being cilled. Red-currant flavors are uppermost, the tannins are soft, light and ready. Drink this now while it's fresh and fruity.
