Our Notes: Juhfark, which translates to “sheep’s tail,” refers to the long, curvy shape of the grape clusters. Grown exclusively in Somló, it acts more like a mirror to the volcanic soil rather than trying to overpower it with any dominant flavor. Naturally high in acidity even when picked at the very end of harvest, it needs time in barrel and bottle before showing itself. Nutty and chock full of sweet honeyed fruit, the wine is neither oxidative nor riddled with residual sugar. The balance between stones dipped in salt water and ripe fruit is completely counterintuitive and delicious upon the first taste. From Moroccan flavors to a hardy weisswurst topped with sauerkraut, this wine will complement beautifully. 1330 bottles produced.
