Our Notes: “Újra Együtt (Together Again)” has a double meaning. First it symbolizes the reuniting of the Pfneisl family with their ancestral Hungarian vineyards (hence adding “z” to Pfneiszl), and secondly, it means to simply share a bottle and be “together again.” This Kékfrankos is about effortless drinking. On the nose blue and black berries are accented by notes of fermented tea, sandalwood and green peppercorns. Light but supple with gentle acidity and salty minerality. It is a perfect wine not because it is the best, but because it always suits the occasion. Drink it on the porch, with a TV dinner or pair it with savory haute cuisine. For something traditional try it with Chicken Paprikash.

88 Points (Best Buy) Wine & Spirits Magazine for the 2011: “The Pfneisl family emigrated to Austria after losing its Hungarian property in the 1920s. Sisters Birgit and Katrin used reparations from Hungary to purchase a vineyard in Sopron, just across the border from their uncles' winery in Austria. Their first vintage was 2002; their vines are now certified organic. This vintage shows their distinctly Hungarian take on blaufränkisch (kékfrancos in Hungarian): dark-fruited but delicate, with fine but persistent tannins and a shishito pepper spice—a bistro red with a Hungarian accent.
