Our Notes: A few bottles left! “Susogó” means “rustling” and refers to the poplar trees swaying back and forth at the top of the windy Csirkemál vineyard. This is where the rhyolite soil changes to more hardened andesite and is largely responsible for the over the top mineral character. There're sweet herbal-like aromatics in the wine and a gently salty mouthfeel. It pairs well with fatty fish, sweet and sour soups, and just about anything under the sun that’s smoked. Sarolta paired this wine with some homemade “Palócleves” (beef, paprika, caraway seed, lard, and onion soup) during our last visit.

The Hungarian edition of the Gault & Millau wine guide calls the 2011 Susogo Furmint a “Best Buy”. We agree: a beautiful wine at a very attractive price. That's how we like it!
