Miloš Stagnum 2003

Miloš, Pelješac Peninsula (Croatia)
Red (14.6%)
Plavac Mali
$89.95 - low inventory
Sorry, sold out
Our Notes: Planted on incredibly steep 30 year old terraced vineyards on the slopes of the Pelješac peninsula, this is the most long lived Plavac Mali we’ve yet encountered. Hand picked, fermented with wild yeasts, and aged in old Slavonian oak barrel for three years before bottling. The year 2003 was scorching hot, one of the best years in a large part of Europe. The 2003 Stagnum is a wine of strong structure, a powerful expression and great aging potential. It had been cellaring for ten years before it was made available for sale. To be served at room temperature, preferably decanted.

90 Points Wine Enthusiast Magazine for the 2006: Cranberry, pomegranate and a touch of bramble are found in the nose. The palate reveals fresh fruit flavors of sour red cherry, cranberry and red plum with a pleasant acidic backbone. Drink now or hold through 2016.
