The people. Suvla is a family owned wine producer established in 2009. It is located in Eceabat, by the Canakkale Strait-Dardanelles on the historical peninsula of Gallipoli. The region is becoming a center of developing vineyards. In this region, famous with it’s deep history, the relationship between vines and soil has been ongoing for centuries.
The appellation. Suvla is named after a bay in the north coast of the Aegean Sea. Surrounded by pine trees with a smell of intense resin and lavender in the salty air by the seaside, the vineyards have the hardpan soil and the northwest winds prevailing the micro climate which provides highly convenient terroir for the maturation of high quality grapes. One of the vineyards named “Bozokbağ” (80 hectares), was established in 2003.
In the vineyards. Vineyards have a wide variety of grape varieties. The reds are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Noir, Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir. The whites are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne and Marsanne. Indigenous varieties are Kinali Yapincak and Karasakiz. The vineyards are under the certification of ‘Good Agriculture Practice – GAP’.
In the cellar. The winery is only 3 to 14 km away from the vineyards, which makes it possible to obtain ultimate quality chateau style wines. The modern style winery boasts 5200 square meters and houses a traditional olive and natural agricultural products processing facility as well. Focusing on quality, working with leaders in all equipments and with latest technologies, the winery has processing capacity of over 600.000 bottles, incorporating state of the art technology and knowhow.
The winery layout is configured to process the grapes with gravity. Temperature controlled stainless steel fermentation and storage tanks are designed by professional consultants.
